Scott County, Kentucky

Scott County, Kentucky with a population of just over 47,000, was created in 1792, after having been abandoned in 1777 following repeated Indian attacks against settlers who arrived in 1774. Scott County was named for General Charles Scott, a Revolutionary War hero who later served as Governor of Kentucky. Scott County was formed from Woodford County land. The county seat is Georgetown and Scott County is part of the Lexington-Fayette Metropolitan Statistical Area.
