Lincoln County, Kentucky with a population of just under 25,000, was organized in 1780 and was one of the original three Kentucky counties (formed from Virginia’s Kentucky County). The county seat is Stanford. Lincoln County was named for Benjamin Lincoln, a general in the Revolutionary War. Lincoln County is part of the Danville Micropolitan Statistical Area.
