Fayette County, Kentucky

Fayette County, one of the three original Kentucky counties, is the second most populated county in the Commonwealth, with a population of nearly 300,000. Lincoln and Jefferson Counties were the other two original counties. Fayette includes the county seat of Lexington, Kentucky. Fayette County was established from Kentucky County, Virginia in 1780 with Kentucky becoming an independent Commonwealth in 1792.
