Anderson County, with a population of just over 21,400, was established from land gifted by Franklin, Washington and Mercer Counties in 1827 and is included in the Frankfort Micropolitan Statistical Area as well as the Lexington-Fayette-Richmond-Frankfort Combined Statistical Area.
